Bellingham Based Birding and Nature Tours
Accessible, affordable nature excursions for the whole family!
My name is Kate Brown, I have been working as a birding guide and professional naturalist across the US for the past decade, and can’t wait to help you explore the incredible nature that surrounds us here in Whatcom County and Western Washington. I have extensive experience bringing folks of all ages and abilities outdoors, and can tailor outings to meet individual group needs and desires.
Bird Bellingham has outings for everyone! Whether you are a solo participant, a family with young kids, or a group of adults looking to build community and deepen your connection to the environment- we’ve got something for you!
Nature is a Safe Space: As a queer woman with multiple chronic illnesses- I understand first hand what it's like when the outdoors does not feel welcoming, safe or accessible, and have spent the majority of my professional career working to make the outdoors a more inclusive place. Every nature walk I lead is a safe space for queer folks, people of color, women, and immigrants, and any intolerance or hate speech will not be tolerated. Nature is for everyone, and every single human being deserves to feel safe outside.

Don’t see an option that exactly meets you needs? We also do private or custom tours! Whether it’s an employee team-building day, a kids birthday or any other group event- reach out, I’d love to make your birding dreams a reality!
Our region is perfect for car birding, especially in winter!
The 40 minute drive from Bellingham to Skagit County offers incredible opportunities to see birds that are ONLY here during the coldest months!
A single day of winter birding in the agricultural fields of Skagit County often yields views of tens of thousands of snow geese, hundreds of Tundra and Trumpeter Swans, and numerous raptor species, including Short Eared Owls, Northern Harriers, American Kestrels, and of course, Bald Eagles
Option 1: One Vehicle: If your party is 3 individuals or less- you can fit into my Subaru and I can drive you down to the best areas for Car Birding, stopping at the best spots for winter birds!
Option 2: Multiple Vehicles: If your party takes up multiple cars (or if you would prefer to drive yourself for any reason)- we can drive in separate vehicles. and meet at a trail-head/nature area, where we can disembark and chat in person as we walk and observe the birds!
Winter Car Birding
Are you a queer person looking to build community and learn more about birds?

We go where the birds are!
